Scope of Practice

Physical Examination & diagnosis

When a patient comes into a chiropractor’s office, the Doctor of Chiropractic will perform a thorough health history and physical examination in order to assess the following and come to an accurate diagnosis:

  • Joint mobility and muscle strength
  • Integrity of the nervous system
  • Alignment of the vertebrae and related structures
  • When necessary, your chiropractor may use imaging such as X-ray and MRI, or other lab tests, to rule out certain conditions and to assist in diagnosing structural conditions

Chiropractic Adjustment

A chiropractic adjustment is a high velocity low amplitude manual technique which can effectively realign the vertebrae.  Realigning the vertebrae will not only increase joint mobility, but also balance the related muscle groups, thereby relieving muscle stiffness, and reducing the irritation to the nervous system.

Adjunct Therapy

Your chiropractor may use physiological methods such as cryotherapy, thermotherapy and interferential current etc as part of the treatment. The purpose of these add-on therapies is to decrease inflammation, relax muscles and promote blood circulation.

Prevention

Chiropractors stress the importance of preventative and maintenance care.  We believe staying healthy requires daily effort, including proper posture, appropriate exercises and a balanced diet.

Nutrition

Chiropractors obtained training in nutrition as part of their studies, and recognize that optimal nutrition is essential to optimal health.  Vitamins and minerals are vital for proper body functioning, while intake of some other items should be limited.  Please consult your chiropractor regarding your nutritional needs.

Proper Posture Advise

Proper posture is your key to good health.  Proper posture is far more important than just looking healthy from the outside.  As your spinal column plays a vital role in the normal functioning of the central nervous system, bad posture causing pressure and irritation to your spine can have a negative cascading effect to your body.
